I am Mandisa Mkwanazi. I was born in Carolina; South Africa. I
attended my primary education in my home town. We used to walk for 12km to school. We had no secondary school, and after my form 1 which is now called Grade 8 at a boarding school because all rural places had no secondary schools. I did my teachers' diploma at East Rand College of Education in Johannesburg. I did my B.A degree at the University of Zululand and my B.A (Hons) at the University of Pretoria. I vowed to work with rural schools students after getting my teaching profession that is why I am working in Gert Sibande Region. Gert Sibande has about +/- 560 schools of which 380 are in rural places. Before working in Gert Sibande Region I taught at Mgwenya College of Education as Language lecturer for nine years.
I am doing MATESOL in Saint Michael's College. I have acquired a lot of knowledge which I would share with English Subject advisors and Teachers. I am also going to write an English grammar book for Gr 7 students when I arrive at home. The book will include teaching vocabulary, Listening and Speaking which are aspects not well taken care of in language books at home.I shall help develop training manuals for ESL teachers for my Province. I am also going to introduce CALL in my region. Teachers will be trained first and implementation of CALL will then take place. There is a lot to be done in my region getting computers for student, training of teacher and taking students on board in using of CALL.
